Project Natal and Milo

Posted on Oct. 08, 2009 at 01:01 AM

I have been wanting to post this for a while, and I believe after this much time everybody has seen it. Project Natal itself seems pretty interesting. In fact I have been expecting such an application since the real time depth cameras are introduced, and project Natal makes good use of this technology. In fact in E3, the demo of PS3 really looked "amateur" when compared to the demonstration of Natal (this may also be due to bad presentation, I am still hopeful for the final product of PS3).

But I am especially impressed with the Milo project (check out the video). T ...

Science Fiction and Nostalgie

When I remember my middle school days, I recall coming home from school on fridays and impatiently waiting for a TV show starting at 8pm. This show was no other than Star Trek: The Next Generation. I have never been a member of Star Trek cult, but this show at the time had a nice science fiction taste which I could not resist. The charisma and wisdom of Capt. Pickard, capable yet funnt Lt. I had a wonderful Aikido seminar and even met very nice people.

I am happy with the research projects I have been working on, and this semes ...

I am motivated by some recent events and observations to write this article. First of all this article is not about discussing which martial art is better neither is it specifically on Aikido, but it is about an ill perspective that we have towards martial arts in our society. I feel it might end up a long write up, but I have the hope that it can provide a refreshing perspective if you keep reading.

It is without argument that today we are living in a heavily commercialized world with popular culture governing our trends. This is a whole large subject to write on by its ...

Cherry Blossoms :)

The spring is upon us, and this weekend I am planning to check out the sakura matsuri, cherry blossoming festival, at Brooklyn Botanical garden. There are also other demostrations and workshops such as Taiko drums, origami, tea ceremony... I am quite excited, here is a video from last year showing the blossoming process.
