The VideoLab is led by Professor Yao Wang and consists of about 10 Ph.D and MS students. Research activities in the VideoLab encompasses many areas related to visual information processing and networked video applications. A central theme of our current research is on how to represent (or code) and deliver video among a large number of users with diverse network access links, computing power, and energy resources. Sample projects include wireless video unicast and multicast, peer-to-peer video streaming, scalable video coding and delivery, video coding and decoding power consumption modeling, total power minimization in video communication. Another focus area is in biomedical image processing and distribution. We collaborate extensively with other faculty members and graduate students in wireless communication and networking at Poly, and with medical schools in the surrounding area. Many undergraduate students participate in our research through the summer research internship program held by the department and university.
